Partition Master is a free piece of software from EaseUS which makes managing disks and disk partitions quick, easy, straightforward and safe. Creating, deleting, resizing, moving and merging of partitions can be handled with ease thanks to the well laid out and easy to navigate user interface.
The cloning of both individual partitions and entire disks is also made easy thanks to the specialised cloning tool. This allows for any cloned partitions to be automatically resized to accommodate a larger target disk and (if necessary) the image optimised for use on an SSD drive.
Many other more advanced features are also incorporated including the ability to convert between MBR and GPT partition tables and back again (GPT is needed for disks larger than 2TB) and the ability to convert basic disks to dynamic (although the pro version is needed to convert disks back again).
Finally, some other great tools are included such as a secure drive cleaning tool, file system and disk surface integrity checking tools and secure wiping tools to permanently erase an entire partition or disk.

Usability
Installing EaseUS Partition Master
Downloading Partition Master from the EaseUS website is easy to do, they do try and up sell the Pro version, which is fine, but once the download link is visible at just over 1.6MB the installer is very quick to download and start running.
Once installed EaseUS takes us straight to the Partition Master home screen, from here all of the currently attached disks can be seen and all major operations within the application initiated.
Basic Partitioning Tasks
I really like the design of Partition Manager, from the main home screen all operations can be performed on any of the available disks and to start a basic partitioning task is as simple as right clicking on a target disk and then selecting the operation.
As can be seen in the image above, creating a new partition on a disk is as simple as right clicking the target disk and selecting “Create” from the context menu, this will then open up the “create partition” screen where the size, label, format and drive letter can all be specified.
As with a lot of partition managers the operation will not begin the second that these aforementioned details are entered, instead one or more operations can be queued up and then everything which is pending will be executed when pressing the Execute button (as shown below):
Once a partition has been created it can then be further manipulated using the mainstream partitioning tools, for example, should the new partition need to be resized this can be done using the resizing tool (again accessed by right clicking on the target drive).
Other basic tools include the ability to make a partition active or inactive, change the drive letter, convert the disk from a basic disk to a dynamic disk (allowing for more partitions) and the converting of the disk from MBR to GPT if it is larger than 2TB.
Cloning Disks and Partitions
One of the most popular uses of partition management software is to accommodate the adding of new, often larger and faster disks to existing PC systems. This is especially popular in recent years due to the ongoing popularity and ever decreasing cost of super fast SSD drives!
The cloning tool allows for a full disk or an individual partition to be cloned to another disk, this can optionally include resizing the partition to accommodate a different sized target disk and also optimising for SSDs.
It needs to be noted, however, that making full system migrations (i.e. all data partitions and the bootable partition) is reserved for the Professional version of Partition Master.
Advanced Maintenance Tools
In addition to the partition management and disk cloning tools Partition Master contains various other system maintenance tools to help keep PCs running at their best. The Surface Check and Check File System tools both check the integrity of the physical disk and the formatted file system respectively.
A secure disk wiping tool is included which will securely overwrite the contents of any given disk or partition making them virtually impossible to recover.
Other tools include the optimisation suite which provides three tools for clearing junk, defragmenting and optimising partitions and identifying and cleaning away large files from the system.
Finally, the surface test tool will check and attempt to repair the physical hard disk as and when possible.
EaseUS Partition Master Free vs Professional
The free version of EaseUS Partition Master contains a good set of tools to help manage hard drives and migrate data whilst in the process of introducing new drives into the system. As with most free software EaseUS also produce a Professional version and naturally there are some additional features in this Pro version which are missing from the free version.
One notable limitation in the free version is apparent when working with dynamic disks, these been disks allowing more than the maximum of 4 partitions and a total size of 2TB common with a basic disk.
Once a disk has been converted form basic to dynamic the free version of EaseUS Partition Manager is essentially useless for that disk, no new partition can be created and any existing partitions (created elsewhere) are subject to very limited functionality. For example whilst the drive letter assigned to dynamic partitions can be changed a dynamic disks partitions can’t be moved, resized or cloned as partitions on a basic disk could be (Again in the Pro version this is available).
There are also limitation in the free version of Partition Master when upgrading to a new SSD, for example, to migrate an entire system the existing system disk or disks containing the operating system will need to be cloned, moved and optimised for use with the new drive. The pro version of Partition master contains a specialist tool used for migrating the OS of a system to a new disk, this accommodates for moving all partitions (including the boot partition) and also includes extending the partition for larger disks and optimising for SSDs when applicable.
Finally, the bootable media builder is also only available in the Pro version of the software.

EaseUs Partition Master Security
EaseUS Partition Master has limited need for security features due to the tool making clones directly to other target disks (as opposed to a backup tool making an image of a disk or partition to a file). The included Secure Wipe tool does, however, allow for the overwriting of data on specific disks or partitions meaning that recovery is virtually impossible, a nice addition to see in a free tool.
